Mosaic Community Project is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to operate with dedication to promote education, the visual and performing arts, sustainable living practices, and environmental awareness in Ouray County, Colorado. Our purpose is to compliment local alternative and public schools, support artists and collaborative works of art, establish county wide earth friendly initiatives and awareness campaigns as well as foster cooperative relationships with other community organizations without discrimination, whose missions, or projects are substantially in concert with ours.

Mosaic Community Project exists to benefit the communities of Ouray County. The funds raised by MCP will be shared with the community in a variety of ways. Our current and future fundraisers and projects include: Spring plant sale and Fall fruit cup sale, Ridgway River Festival, Big Ideas, public works of art, visiting artist workshops and performances, county composting, community garden support, area cleanups, and planting trees. All of our activities and projects will fall within our mission.

Mosaic Community Project is a volunteer-based organization without paid employees. Volunteers are our livelihood and are needed for help with fundraising and community projects. Join the Fundraising or Community Project Committees. As a working board, we are always looking for energetic members.

WHAT IS THE BIG IDEAS PROJECT?

The Mosaic Community Project (MCP) is pleased to announce the BIG IDEAS Project. The project goal is to inspire and empower Ouray County citizens to contribute to their community in a meaningful manner.

Funding
Through this project, MCP will provide seed money that is to be at least doubled by the participant’s fundraising efforts. The money raised by the participant will be used to carry out the proposed service project within the timeline provided by the applicant.

Applicants may apply for up to $500

Requirements
Interested applicants will be required to fill out an application, meet all guidelines, and complete both the fundraising portion of the project and the project itself within the expressed timeframe. All youth participants must have an adult supervisor who can help monitor funds received and raised, as well as the allocation of the funds and the overall good faith of the young participants.

Timeline
The Big Ideas Project will be an ongoing MCP program. Applications will be perpetually accepted as long as granting funds are available. The MCP board will make a decision to grant funds during the first week of each month. Each applicant should submit a timeline with their proposal that specifies the following:

Matching funds must be met within two months of application acceptance. MCP funds will then be granted.
Service project must be completed within four months of the grant allocation.
A progress report must be submitted after fundraising phase and after project completion.
A final budget must be submitted at project completion along with any documentation of the project (such as photographs, video, blog, website).

The MCP mission statement is to operate with dedication to promoting education, the visual and performing arts, sustainable living practices, and environmental awareness in Ouray County, Colorado.

Our current and future fundraisers and projects include ROCC parking lot sales, Ridgway River Festival, Big Ideas, public works of art, visiting artist workshops and performances, county composting, community garden support, area cleanups, and planting trees. All of our activities and projects will fall within our mission.

The Big Ideas Project is funded in part by a grant from the Telluride Foundation.

BIG IDEAS DESCRIPTION

2009 RIDGWAY RIVER FESTIVAL: SATURDAY. JUNE 27th

Ridgway River Festival 2008 was a great success! This first annual event was welcomed with beautiful weather which provided for safe and fun river events, great music, an energetic Kid's Eddy, bountiful watershed education information, delicious food and of course tasty beverages provided by New Belgium Brewery. We are looking forward to the 2009 festival and plan to grow the event to both sides of the Uncompahgre River and include whitewater clinic opportunities.

Mosaic Community Project Announces Winning Logo Submission for the 2009 Ridgway River Festival and Launches New Website

Ridgway, CO - The Mosaic Community Project (MCP) is proud to announce the winner of the 2009 Ridgway River Festival logo submission contest. Christine Wilson-McGrady of Ridgway submitted the winning logo which was selected for clean design, fun representation and easy duplication. McGrady is a graphic designer who lives and works in Ouray County.

The artwork of McGrady will be included on all promotional materials including event banners, printed materials and the event t-shirt. In addition to receiving a festival t-shirt, the artist will be recognized for her work on MCP and Ridgway River Festival websites and will receive a $75 gift certificate to a local restaurant.

The 2009 Ridgway River Festival will be held on Saturday, June 27th in Rollans Park from 11AM to 9PM. The official festival website is now online at http://www.ridgwayriverfestival.org/.
